Open Arms Preschool has finished another successful school year. The eighteen Pre-Kindergarten children and fourteen Preschool students had lots of fun, learned basic concepts, traveled around the world, learned of dinosaurs, oceans, farms, transportation, animals and habitats, pioneers, the five senses, community helpers, fairy tales and nursery rhymes, insects, went on many field trips, holidays, sang songs, danced, played and so much more.
The children also performed a beautiful Christmas program depicting the birth of Christ. The spring program was very entertaining with the preschool children performing the Three Little Pigs and the Three Billy Goats Gruff. The Pre-K children performed folk dances and rhythm-stick songs from around the world. The classes combined to sing several of the bible songs they have learned through the year.
Most importantly, they grew in God’s love. The weekly bible lessons and verses and the once a month chapel with Pastor Bestian was a definite highlight for all of us. The children also brought an offering each month. Through the year it totaled $134.87 plus some matching funds from Thrivent Financial to support the LAMP ministry called Fueling the Mission. The funds will help support volunteers who travel into remote areas of northern Canada to teach children about Jesus.
With your help, the parents did several fund raisers this year so that we could purchase new tricycles for the playground to replace many that were worn out. With any extra funds that are raised, the parents would like to provide a scholarship fund for families that are in need of help.
Now is the time to share this wonderful opportunity to be a part of Open Arms Preschool for the next school year, 2010-2011. The Tuesday/Thursday Preschool class still has six openings. The Monday/Wednesday/Friday morning Pre K class is currently full, but there are openings in the afternoon class. Please tell your friends and neighbors about the exceptional preschool at Saint John’s. Share a brochure with others who have preschool-age children. We would like nothing better than to have full classes again next school year!
